New Zealand Honey Science Company and German University Designing of Manuka Honey Standard

A company honey New Zealand and a German university have joined forces to set the industry standard used Rangla manuka honey in healing applications , penaganan stomach and skin problems , as well as potentially in the fight against cancer.

Manuka Honey Standards

Movements emerged after the discovery by researchers at the University of compounds responsible for the antibacterial activity of manuka honey.

Manuka Health New Zealand Te Awamutu and the Technical University of Dresden have formed a partnership to develop a process to normalize the levels of the compound in manuka honey.

At the time of the announcement of the partnership today, Chief Executive Kerry Paul said the Institute of Chemistry Food University is the first to identify compounds MgO ( methilglioxal ) and prove that high levels in some New Zealand manuka honey.

Paul said that the discovery that the antibacterial ability is directly related to the level of MGO, very significant for the industry.

We already know that manuka honey has this property. Unique Manuka Factor term used to describe the antibacterial effect is always reliable, and UMF has become a patented brand Amha.

" But we do not know what the Germans found the compound responsible for the characteristic " .

"The next step is the process of putting together the industry standard in an independent place to set the standard for MgO levels in health products based bee " he said.

Mr. Paul said manuka honey has been known as a reliable antibacterial activity, which makes it very effective to solve the problems of stomach and intestine and skin and wounds.

However, with the identification of MGO, further applications of the manuka honey is feasible, including tumorcidal used as agents to fight cancer.

A research team led by Professor Thomas Henle, Head of the Institute of Food Kiamia in Dresden, tested over 80 honey from around the world and found MGO levels of 700 mg / kg in some New Zealand honey manuka, more than 70 times higher than ordinary honey. Previous research showed the highest concentration in the food or drink is 100 mg / kg in the coffee and chocolate.

Mr. Paul said that during their research, the team of Professor Henle has developed a test to measure levels of MgO in honey.

Mr. Paul said that medical researchers have shown that MgO potential against tumor cells in the body and has a healing effect on many types of cancer in animals.

Current research on humans shows that MGO cause total reduction of 40% of the tumor, with a reduction of 40% in the other. Further research is underway to improve treatment techniques .
